 - Music Inspired By Lord Of The Rings

  • Bo Hansson

Music Inspired By Lord Of The Rings LP (1972)

    Charisma

Solo debut by Hammond organ extraordinaire / composer Bo Hansson.  Hansson had enjoyed success in his home country of Sweden as the other half of the pop duo Hansson & Karlsson before striking out on his own. His first opus is the prog rock masterpiece inspired by J. R. R. Tolkien's high fantasy novel, The Lord of the Rings. The album reeks of space rock and dreamy Ummagumma-era Pink Floyd evident on tracks like "Leaving Shire" and "The Black Riders and Flight to the ford". The album was first released in 1970 under the title Sagan om ringen.  After making waves in Sweden, the album would later be re-released and would eventually chart in the UK during 1972.
