GRADING:
Record / Cover on a scale of NM / VG++ / VG+ / VG / VG- / G

Tony Sarfo [Safro]: Superman - Funky Afrosibi (Afro Sibi, Ghana)
Rare Ghanaian funk heat, with great instrumental and also vocal funk bangers complete with insane b-boy breaks good vibes. HEAR IT
G (good gloss but there are various noticeable feelable marks on both sides that cause clicks and I also noticed one skip on “I Beg”) / VG- (wear along open edge with small tears and fraying, bottom seam as become unglued - can be easily repaired, writing, light ringwear)
$200

The Prince Pato Expedition: Firebird 1 (Deacon, Great Britain)
Weird exploito Afro Funk LP with exotica vibe. Don’t know much about the band but it sounds like UK library musicians under an alias. Stock jungle animal sounds thrown on top of the music for good measure. There’s even a sitar in there! Also some killer b-boy breaks. HEAR IT
VG- (one feelable scratch on A4, the rest of the LP’s surface has lots of lighter scuffs - check clip, plays VG to VG+ throughout) / VG+ (thin paper UK-style glossy sleeve is in decent shape with no splits but there are some small corner and edge bends)
$50

Lijadu Sisters: Double Trouble (Shanachie Records, USA/Canada 1984)
Surely needs no introduction here. Siiiiiiiick record.
VG+ (looks VG++ but I’m giving it a VG+ grade for a dish warp that DNAP) / VG+ (yellow sticker, mild corner wear)
$40

The Band of Africa Gnonnas Pedro and his Dadjes Band International Vol 4 (TYC 91-L, Nigeria)
Sick combo of Afro Funk and Latin music (there’s a sick interpolation of “El Manisero” on here) you’ve come to expect from Pedro. Great record.
VG (light scuffs on both sides - plays well) / VG (no splits or anything, ringwear and heavier bends, stamp on back and small writing)
$30

Les Bantous de la Capitale (Sonafric, France)
Killer funky LP with the amazing song “Boumamou Sili”. Nice record in fantastic shape. HEAR IT
VG++ (super super clean!) / VG++ (lightest wear on back cover)
$40

Amadou Balake: Afro Charange (Zamidou Productions, Inc, USA)
Classic Afro Charanga LP in totally fileable shape.
VG+ (very light scuffs and wear) / VG+ (in shrink, some wear at opening)
$20

Fanta Damba / Batourou Sekou Kouyate (Songhor, France, 1975)
Very solid LP by this Malian duo of vocals and Kora. A great listen in the morning before the day heats up.
VG++ (visually super clean, but plays with a few very random and sparse pops) / VG+ (two stickers on back cover, top seam coming unglued)
$15

Kouyate Sory Kandia - L’Epopee Du Mandingue (Editions Syliphone Conakry, France)
More heat from this killer label, check the soul-expanding “Douga” for the deepness. HEAR IT
VG- (both sides have marks and scratches, plays through without skipping but with moderate surface noise) / VG (3” splits on top and bottom seams, bending, writing on back cover)
$30

Le Troubadours des Hauts-Plateaux: Musique Africaine Du Burundi (Disques Vogue, France)
Cheap, solid ethnic title.
Assumed NM (disc is still sealed) / NM (in full shrinkwrap)
$10

Music from Mozambique (Ethnic Folkways Records FE 4310, USA)
Nice copy of this solid title with insert.
VG++ (light surface wear, common for Folkways) / VG+ (light sticker residue)
$20

Ethiopia: The Falasha & The Adjuran Tribe (Folkways Ethnic Records FE 4355)
Crisp, was sealed. Killer title IMO. With insert.
VG++ (lightest of surface scuffs, was sealed) / VG++ (in full shrink, one small corner bump)
$30

Musique Malinke: Guinee - Collection Musee de L’Homme (Disques Vogue)
Super tight ethnic LP. Varied recordings from chants to hypnotic percussion to gorgeous kora to polyphonic melodic percussion. Beautiful gatefold cover with attached liner notes in French and English.
VG- (weird smudges, a few very tiny marks, B side plays with surface noise, definitely an enjoyable listen IMO) / VG+ (bottom seam has become unglued)
$20

Termile & The Jamals: Now (Camille Records, USA)
With the Island funk jam “If You Feel Like Dancing”.
VG+ (clean, cloudiness from pressing, plays fine) / NM (in shrink)
$30

Pal Joey Lewis Orchestra (JoeVan, Barbados)
Trinidadian cover of KATG’s “Stepping Out”. Pretty dope, actually.
VG+ (light surface wear - plays great) / VG (heavier ringwear on back cover)
$20

The Persian Santur: Music of Iran (Nonesuch Explorer Series, USA)
VG++ / VG+
$5
