Prestige blue/purple label question (Latin Jazz-R)
Was there ever a purple label release of the Latin Jazz Quintet's "Latin Soul" LP?
I have an OG that has the Bergenfield address but the label is more like a purple-blue than a straight up purple so I'm guessing this is a "blue label" Prestige/New Jazz release.

Oops, my bad - yeah, I meant "Latin Soul."
It's this LP: http://collectorsfrenzy.com/Details.aspx?id=330323074138
Same catalog #, same NJ address on the back.
I've seen other listings that describe a "Purple label" but the pic is too small to verify the color.

I'm pretty sure they're completely different (looking) labels between Purple New Jazz and Blue Prestige
This is a different release but this is what the 1st press Latin Soul looks like too from what I can tell from the small pics:

Ah, you might be right - that small pic is f*cking hard to decipher but it does look like it has the big "NEW JAZZ" on top.

Re: Prestige blue/purple label question (Latin Jaz
For whoever cares: I just spoke with Rick Ballard at Groove Yard and he says, to the best of his knowledge, the original label for the title IS the blue Prestige trident label; this apparently was released AFTER New Jazz/Prestige stopped using the violet purple big-New Jazz-lettering design.

I believe he's right - there are several titles that were originally intended as New Jazz releases but were only released on Prestige - some yellow/black labels and some blue. To make it extra confusing, a number of these have New jazz covers. I have a Japanese book at work that runs this down, but don't have it in front of me.
