    Record collecting still popular?

When I left the US I sold almost everything I had to some guy with a store, or was starting a store, or something. I kept a couple of boxes of my favorites and a few interesting ones and that's all thats left. Sisqo did not make the cut!

    Record collecting still popular?

I was never too picky on condition and whatnot because I was mostly playing around sampling but it's crazy to me now that in the early 2000s I was buying 60s-70s funk/R&B/jazz at times for 25 cents to a dollar per album. Admittedly not super raers (well, occasionally) but I never stopped to...

    Record collecting still popular?

I think this is spot on, in my not professional, anecdotal, and very limited perspective.

    Record collecting still popular?

The prospect of being retired at such a young age (relatively speaking) is unfathomable to me, haha. I think the ship has sailed personally. Not that one can't sell records or whatever but to one of the other comment's points that industry if you will is probably shored up by middle age+ folks...

    Record collecting still popular?

The novelty of a lot of stuff is gone thanks to the internet. I wouldn't undo the convenience of having so much info at my fingertips but it was fun to feel like you discovered something or were in the know when others weren't which is nearly impossible these days.

    Record collecting still popular?

I think about how as a kid I would have thought Spotify/Apple Music/etc was absolutely amazing. My mind would have been blown. It is nice that I can find 99% of music at any time but takes some of the fun out of it, but that's progress. It's so much easier to travel these days and so well...

    Record collecting still popular?

That's the one thing that modern mainstream streaming fails at, in my opinion - little flexibility when it comes to uncleared mixes or samples. I know can DL and UL to my phone but its annoying. But at least from a hip hop and some other genre's perspective unofficial mixes were so key and...

    Record collecting still popular?

I'm sure collecting will continue to be a thing well into the future. But I feel like the peak era of Soulstrut was also a peak era for record collecting, at least outside of the traditional groups. For the younger folks - at the time - there was an interest in digging up old samples and...

I got my old account back... and it still has a Collegeclub.com email address

Thanks to @RAJ after about 10 years I've been able to reclaim my account. I made a joke about it still having my collegeclub email on it... and surprise, it did. That's all my news. RIP Collegeclub / almost 22 years as a formal strutter.

VNYL IS PRETTY MUCH A COMPLETE SCAM

Gained my OG account back! I haven't even thought of that company since this thread from 15 years ago so I have no idea what they've done - I just so happened to see this thread and googled it. It's amazing if they've been able to keep a subscription service of Goodwill bin records going for 10...

    Nujabes - whats your thoughts

I do enjoy the smooth and mellow samples he uses/used. Probably has something to do with getting older as I assume soon I will start eating Werther's Originals and watching Alex Trebek religiously. When I really started looking at it he's not doing anything different than Puff Daddy...

    Nujabes - whats your thoughts

Been listening to some Nujabes beats and some other chill hop lately. I like most of it, but backtracking the samples I've found most of his and others beats are nothing more than a piano loop with a drum beat overtop. For someone who was lauded as a producer extraordinaire, that was...
