    Wives/Girlfriends And Records

I met my wife through a friend on a digging trip to Brazil back in the mid 90s, so she can't complain too much...LOL! She saw all the records I already had up till then on her first visit to my place, does not mind as long as I don't spend money we ain't got (flexing the credit card to...

    Turntables for listening.

I'm in the process of selling my Townshend Elite Rock deck, so with that in mind have started down the upgrade path on one of my Technics 1210s. So far I have on a new 1210 MK II deck the following: Japanese Oyaide metal mat Ortofon 2m blue cartridge Sumiko headshell...

    Turntables for listening.

CBear said:If you're looking at older models, try to find one with as few features as possible. Overly complicated (auto start, playing multiple records, etc) ones seem to break too often. Auto stop is nice, but I added that to the Thorens with this simple solution...

    Turntables for listening.

I have alonside my Technics turntables a 'Townshend Elite Rock' deck (has the rare optional plinth and cover lid that were extra upgrades). Actually in the process of moving it on, great deck I've had for almost five years. I hardly use it due to the Technics getting used on a daily...

    Favorite Steely Dan Album

Royal Scam for me, so many great tracks. "Green Earings" and "The Fez" sometimes getting spins at Jazz-Funk club nights in London back in the 90s by forward thinking DJs. Link to a nice version of "Glamour Profession"...

    Soul Strut 100: #88 - Leroy Hutson - Hutson (1975)

Love all the Curtom releases... One of my favourite soul singer/musicians since i started collecting in 1975, discovered him around 1990 and quickly picked up all his albums shortly afterwards. I feel 'Hutson' should be further up the SS 100 personally!

Jimmy Michaels did some great Bee Gees remixes from the master tapes as well, should be able to find them on Soundcloud.

I did this because i'm OCD- doc film related

Couple I've really enjoyed this year were Channel 4s 'Graffiti Wars', BBC 4s 'Hotel California' documentart about the West Coast scene from the late 60s through to mid 70s, and 'American - Bill Hicks Story'. Some good clips of Bill doing his stuff on stage that I'd not seen before...

Tracks with Beach Boy Style Vocals

Raj, The Lewis Taylor 'Lost' album track you selected is a great album all round. Love the "Leader Of The Band" track that also has Beach Boy style harmonies running through it, and the acoustic version of "Lucky" is a modern day classic track (as is the whole album really).

    KAJAGOOGOO, BATCHES

Billy Mackenzie had such a great unique (theatrical) voice, fond memories of the hits "Party Fears Two", "Club Country" & "Waiting For The Love Boat". Other great Scottish bands of the era were Orange Juice, Aztec Camera, and from time to time I always pull out The Blue Nile album 'A...

My Yacht Belongs In Your Marina (The AM Gold Mix)

Nice mix. Always got time for music on this tip. We need more mixes of this type on the Strut! Here is a link to a mix I did last week with a friend for AOR Disco. A similar vibe with a little bit of Southern Bayou and Christian Soul vibe thrown in to the pot...

Channel 4 calls out Banksy in Graffiti Wars documentary

Face fits the description people have made of him in the past (down to the wearing of glasses that Robbo said he picked up and ran way with when he slapped him in the pub).

Can Soulstrut school me on Marcos Valle?

Also a couple of Odeon EP compacto singles he did are worth tracking down, especially the 1968 one. He also played on Airto Moreira's LP 'Touching You, Touching Me', as well as writing and playing on Leon Ware's Elektra albums in the period he lived in California for a short while...

    Rod Temperton

J i m s t e r said:Do you think that is actually Rod laying down that vocal or just some contemporary goofing on behalf of Jimmy? Alway possible it could be Jimmy, but from previous tapes Jimmy's worked on he tends to leave some of the original voice out-takes in his remixes if they are...
