if you go to des moines, hit up Red Rooster Records, the dude who runs it is pretty into funk/soul, pretty much the only spot in town where youll find anything...ANYTHING decent, as far as that goes. ive gotten all kinds of good shit from him, 45s, LPs... and...dont even bother with that half...

There's a Half Price in Des Moines that you could hit if you stop for lunch there or something. Otherwise the middle of the state is pretty dry.

I'm a big fan of the Old School Records in Forest Park (end of the Blue Line and about a 6 block walk). The owners are super friendly, very fair prices, well stocked cheapo bin, dirt cheap 45s. I've only stopped by once, but a place called Kstarke Records just opened up at 1109 N. Western...

Yeah the bag looks great but it's no good for any remotely heavy duty. I just use mine as a shoulder bag and occassionally when I go shopping. It does a way better job holding my newspaper/book/bike lock/etc than records. If you pack it full you can feel the strap straining like hell.

The guy I worked for considered the store his personal collection. The back room stuff/stuff he took home was the stuff he couldn't bear to part with yet. And when he finally decided he could, he'd price it 40%-100% above book. You can leave, but it's going to cost you.

Anything Joe Pernice touches is pretty much golden. The first album by the Anniversary was pretty emo and pretty aces.
