Why did hip-hop producers in the 90's (at least the big names, pete rock, large pro, showbiz, diamond d, etc) sample that "hey!" thing from james browns reality LP...i think it's on funky president.what is so special about "hey!" and what does it mean when they sample it all the time?

I've wondered this myself. I think it's because if you play the records backwards, the sample says "yeh", so maybe they were trying to send out subliminal positive affirmations to their listeners.
