Pretty :suspect: how this is playing out.

The lawyer's comments "I think we both benefit" and "if we put our hands together" are very telling.

Curious. Wouldn't this need to be litigated in European courts? Being recorded there and never published would make it an interesting case to see the outcome. I remember Europe has a 50 year Use it or Loose it stipulation, but that's on something that was published. Hopefully the Gaye estate doesn't try to be super greedy and want it in its entirety for free. I just wouldn't release them at all and invite friends over to listen at dinner parties. ha

Now that the family and attorneys are aware of the tapes I don't think this is going to go they way they want it to.

Unrelated saw Dre on IG messing on the boards with Marvin’s vocals saying he can’t arrange the way it was done

The Gaye estate may only have limited rights here, possibly even none at all, although it wouldn't be a surprise if they were to litigate regardless, would it? Generally, whoever pays for the session owns the recording rights, and while it would be reasonable to assume Marvin ponied up, it's far from a given in the absence of documentary proof. Did he leave those tapes behind because the bill hadn't been paid? Who knows? Either way, I doubt we're going to hear them anytime soon
