Hey everyone,

I’m new to using development boards and working on tiny electronics projects. I want to pick the right board but there are so many options, and I’m not sure what to look for. Here’s what I think matters so far:

  • Processor speed & memory
  • Number & types of I/O (GPIO, UART, SPI, I2C…)
  • Power options (USB, battery, low-power modes)
  • Size and add-ons/shields compatibility
  • Good documentation + a solid community around it

If anyone has suggestions or recommendations for boards that are easy for beginners—especially ones that are affordable—please share. Thanks a lot!

Start with something like the Raspberry Pi Pico or Arduino Uno Rev3. It’ll let you focus on learning the basics (programming, wiring sensors, I/O) rather than getting stuck in advanced setup.
