    Kanye West Rants........

The Sway interview is a modern classic. So quotable. "And it ain't no Ralph though".

    DJ Spooky - turdmeister? (copyright-R)

DJ Spooky truly is the definition of a poser. Hiding behind academic bullshit terminology (people who know what they're talking about can also express things clearly)and creating a ridiculous genre name like "Illbient" (isn't it the job of journalists to invent silly labels?). Everything in an...

    Soul Strut 100: # 4 - East of Underground

Otis_Funkmeyer said:The material, inspired performances, raw aesthetic, and stripped-down arrangements are right up my alley. It doesn't get much better. Agreed. Can't believe people deny the awesomeness of EoU :nagl:

    THE END OF DJING

Okem said:Dude has some valid points, especially about the advancements in technology lowering the bar for who gets to be a DJ and all that, but some of the rest of it came across as the familiar grumblings of an older man in a young mans game. Sounded like he'd once made some very...

ATTN Batmon (and anyone else who cares): Affleck?

Grandfather said:Affleck is supposed to help write the script and give some creative direction. He has been doing a good job with his last few movies so I think the movie will be good. That's good to know. Man of Steel didn't do it for me - there was a good movie in there somwhere...

A unit for your records, shoes, storage, chill out area, etc etc etc.

    What's your favorite Pavement Album?

I discovered Pavement later, and still to this day I haven't heard Slanted & Enchanted. Wowee Zowee was the first album I heard, but my favourite is Brighten the Corners. I love the combination of Pavements weird/lofi touches and the clean production. And it's just full of great songs...

    Kanye's NYT interview

batmon said:Okem said:Yer, I don't think it's some contrived publicity thing, he is just that crazy. Yeah, he's just that crazy near the June 18th release date. :suspect: Did the NYTimes call him or did his people call the Times to discuss the upcoming album...

    Kanye's NYT interview

    Kanye's NYT interview

I love that Kanyes vision of his place in history is something like this: Henry Ford Walt Disney Steve Jobs Kanye West A friend saw him do an impromptu show at some art thing in London the other day. Said it was pretty painful, he was giving these speeches about how...

riddle me this-why are northern soul guys such uptight dorks?

Sweet_Premium said:Mjukis said: I was at one of the nights of small soul weekender this past saturday, they're playing disco, crossover, some latin soul and so on. I don't think that many soul collectors are strictly about the classic amphetamine northern stuff anymore. Purists are generally...

riddle me this-why are northern soul guys such uptight dorks?

This classic Keb Darge interview (posted on here before) puts the scene into perspective I think. In some ways, it was punk before punk. And Keb n them were basically breaking at the start of breaking as well, unbeknownst to them. Keb Darge interview I was at one of the nights of small...
