AM GOLD

Sundown- Gordon Lightfoot with Bass by Spike Lee's Dad
Yeah, that's what I meant instead of "Carefree Highway" which kind of annoys me..."Sundown" is the one that starts out

I can see her lying back in a satin dress
In the room where you do things
that you don't confess
Right?
That one is awesome.
Nothing beats "If You Could Read My Mind" though. That track is next-NEXT-level

Yes. About 6 months ago our oldies station became the monster that is 100.7 the River. I've yet to pin down what's going on with the format. At first glance its a lot of U2 and Natalie Merchant but they're playing a lot of stuff I've never heard (At one point I was informed what was on was the Jayhawks (anyone?)). My guess is its popular college rock from the nineties including stuff that didn't make it to the radio (or I wasn't paying proper attention to the channels playing it) but had large followings. Europeans seem to really like it.

What's basically happened is that studies show people in the over 50 demographic are not influenced by advertising. In other words their buying habits don't change when something is pushed on them. So even though all these oldies stations had a lot of listeners they were of no value to the advertisers so they wouldn't support them and they became wasted air. They're getting cycled out all over the country because if half as many younger people listen to a station it's more valuable economically.

Oh yeah, I heard Ace's "How Long" on the way home and I'd really like to hear doubles of that intro rocked in the aforementioned WHITE HEAT mix.

You will, I SWEAR!

We're getting a little out of hand here, guys.

the young holt version is flugel/french/trumpet? horn heatness maximus
I just played the Fatback Band version on the radio last week, it's smoothness defined. Dee Felice version is a beauty, too. Dells for the vocal is aces, although the Johnny Cash version from a couple years back is prolly my favorite of them all.

8. "The Way We Live"-Johnny Rivers.
I like "Summer Rain" by him, that's a hard one not to sing along with.
I think I named the wrong song. I'll edit my previous post.

Peace,
