COLD AS ICE - Official 08-09 NHL Thread

Holy cow. This will be nuts! Wings take the cup home in Detroit! Hasn't happened since '97!

I just had to pass on Game 7 tickets...

8 minutes left in the third ... you know Raj is feeling
high as a kite/sick to his stomach right now. SHOCK THE WORLD!

Holy shit! Nuts! Im in Colorado hugging strangers. I will revel in this all summer.

WOOOOO! The celebration went to the same streets as the Super Bowl win. The cops shut it down way sooner this time around, though.

CITY OF CHAMPIONS.

TOP for monday, still feeling that buzz...

i had a dream last night that the steelers won ANOTHER (7th) super bowl. like seriously in my dream i watched the last 2 quarters and the post-game show. living in this city just makes you feel like a champ!

I watched the first two periods and then had to follow the 3rd on my phone from a rehearsal dinner for a relatives wedding. There were at least three of us at my table giving each other updates until it was over, and then there were quite a few other folks there with ties to Erie who were also checking in. What a great, and nerve wracking series!

I like people around town talmbout "if the Pirates finish above .500, that counts. CITY OF CHAMPIONS."

Wow. Totally outplayed Detroit in their own home.
Det looked pretty bad, disorganized. Shocking.
Deserved, Pittsburgh. Way to turn that season around into something huge.

I'm usually an underdog supporter, so i'm not mad.
I was one of 3 people in a packed bar cheering for the Wings, though. The Quebec factor, i guess?

I did want overtime, though.

Congrats to Pittsburgh and RAJ.

The Red Wings were out-played when they wanted to be out-played.

Detroit's defense looked disorganized and tired. They created a number of decent scoring chances, from what I remember, but Fleury and the rest of the Pens were definitely on.

Very true.

I actually did not like the Stuart - Kronwall pair. I thought both were relatively young and inexperienced. I would have split Lidstrom and Rafalski but...reports are now out on how Lidstrom went into surgery at the end of the third round and almost lost a testicle(!) and Rafalski was playing with 2 herniated discs in his back since the second round!

Ah well...the playoffs are all about who can be healthy in the end. Next year guys...
