Any of you budding film makers out there want to tackle the Isaac Hayes Biopic? If so, I think I found your black Moses.

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje

Adrian Younge & El Michel's affair on the soundtrack!

Somebody call John Singleton or Ava DuVernay and let's get this made before they cast somebody like Common or Omar Epps.

I dont think Hayes has a backstory that is Hollywood friendly.

What's the antagonist? Where's the drama?

Or do u want to just see folks in costume lip-syncing his shit.

Building Stax? The Oscar triumph? Escape From NY? Bald Sex Symbol? Lounge act stories?

Please 2 school?

Poor talented kid triumphs in the music industry, mob moves in everyone gets rich, IRS moves in, down and out, saved by South Park and Scientology.

I'll pass.

if you show him masterminding the stax sound then going all black hollywood, black inc with it it does a lot...drama would be post IRS wih weird scientology intereactions although we would have to know more about his secretive life

the sweater wearing eighties nd the demise of a man constatly hovering is interesting to me but it is not clssic hollywood arc i will grant you that

how did the james brown movie do box office wise?

Come on LaserWolf. I'm sure you have a bigger imagination then you are leading us to believe. OK, Right now Hollywood doesn't love Isaac Hayes enough to make a movie about him. He's got a spot in the Rock n Roll hall of fame, Academy awards and Grammys. One of the most distinguished careers of anyone in Memphis, Tennessee. In his prime he was one of the most beloved figures in entertainment.

I agree with you that Biopic films aren't even big money generators at the Box Office. Seeing as how I have no means to properly produce this film. I'm talking purely from a fan's perspective Isaac Hayes transcended just being an actor or a musician and is a true 70's icon.

Come on bro, Isaac Hayes lived to be 65 years old. Don't you think you could get a 2 hour movie out of the 569,725 hours that he lived? Personally, I feel that traditional biopic films fail by trying to cover the whole musicians life anyways.

I'd love to see a film with him just during the Stax era co-writing Soul Man for Sam and Dave.

https://youtu.be/jFYjcxwcxcs?t=6m9s

Or how about the slice of life when he was writing Hyperbolicsyllabicsesquedalymistic and Walk on By in 69.

https://youtu.be/8N8k3uJu6K8

How about just him working on Shaft?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lytb0fgJ6vY

Or how about the Wattstax era.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sl2_qn_slGA

Or filming Truck Turner!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bxg4ojBitQ

Who cares about Scientology and South Park. That's just a footnote in his massive career.

the world does not want nor need an isaac hayes biopic. that is the corniest idea I have heard in a while.

It's no secret I am a fan of a bio-pic.

I agree with what you are saying. I would watch the documentary for sure.

"I'd love to see a film with him just during the Stax era co-writing Soul Man for Sam and Dave. "

Yes, my big complaint about bio-pics is the scope.

Still I don't see the Hollywood there.

They want tension/release, The Fall/The Redemption, love lost/love found.

They don't want people sitting around a piano wondering what comes after the first verse.

Stax people who would make a good Hollywood bio-pic:

Otis Redding - duh.

Sam & Dave

Mable John

Packy Axton (no idea what his story is, but I think it might be Hollywood.)

Andrew Love/Wayne Jackson

One of my favorite bio-pics is the one with the Beatles in Hamburg. Just one little slice of the Beatles.

Going to highly recommend you check out the new Brian Wilson movie. The scenes where they recreate him creating Pet Sounds with the Wrecking crew are incredible!

recreations, reenactments are typically the cheesiest and worst part of an movie or doc. trying to think of even one that was done well aside from "thin blue line". as batmon said, who needs to see some issaac hayes impersonator wearing the gold chain vest and shades?

The one thing thing that they could sell is the Cinematic sound he used on Hot Buttered Soul.

I dont know if he was the first but that contribution could be Hollywooded.

Do Stax to WattsStax arc and end it there. Post Otis Barkays sidestory using them to open up R&B.

Do yall wanna see the bad Disco years and the resurgence doing doo-doo/kaka songs for the MTV?

I should watch this. Might help me get over my aversion to BW.

Did you notice there were 2 bass players but no Carole Kaye?

Trust me they do a great homage to Carole Kaye in the movie. Also I noticed Van Dyke Parks, Phil Spector, and Hal Blaine.
