nice goodwill score...some promo-only cd prefuse put out...it's a mix of his fave brazillian and catalin joints with some folk-psych bits thrown in to taste...like the byrds! anyways, very nice, great summer listening.
very stoked to find this in a thrift store...the Gina X lp with the dancefloor cut "no g.d.m."...the whole record is fantastic...funky german post-punk with vocoders.
this is another nice find...i thought for sure this would be a private press lp that would suck so i could sell it but it's actually really, really good. hippy country/folk/psych that's all over the map but very consistent and engaging and the playing is quite good...it's from guerneville, cali...anybody know this?

finally got another vinyl copy of my fave punk lp...i used to have this on record but this kid i knew wanted it so bad that i sold it to him for $20...i haven't seen another copy since this one but i snapped up a minty copy in billyburg for $7

"Huvva" is my first Marit Hemmingson, but definetely not my last. I'll be on the lookout for "Trollskog". I love the nordic feeling of stuff like this, like Bo Hansson and J:Son Lindh have as well. It has an air of familiarity for me, even though Denmark doesn't have the rough mountain-ambience of Norway, Sweden and Finland (at all!). There's something about those melodies that is unconsciously appealing to me.

I??ve asked some swedes what the hell Huvva! means, but nobody has a clue. To me it sounds like "Huvva! This is some serious organ-heat!" but then again that??s just me. Yeah, pretty much her entire discography is good.

Huvva! is like, old farmpeople-talk, used back in the day in like the 1800's and stuff, and it can mean a lot of things, it can express relief, dissapointment, surprise, it can be like "hell yeah!", "fuck no!" or anything...just an allround word really, in this case it's probably refering to just that it's and old word because it's a record with swedish folkmusic + "oh huvva! we got some funky shit here" bla bla bla.
