Election night, Grant Park (Hutchinson Field area). Be one of a quarter-million folks to cheer on our Nation's next President. Who's with me?<b, 21<b, 21RSVP here.<b,121<b, 21<b, 21<b,121<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v355/rhdcinc/ObamaTL.jpg"1

Quote:C.R.O.Yes.</a1<b,121<b, 21Still wish that I'd gotten one of these:<b,121<b, 21<img src="http://www.creativerescue.org/obama/images/obama_keyes.jpg"1

so are there ANY hotels in the greater Chicago area that AREN'T booked solid? I really can't afford to take 1.5 days off work for this shit but I'm looking into it anyway.

I'm lucky that I've got tickets. The cut-off point was "only" 65-70,000. The other six figures will be piled from Michigan Avenue to the Lake.<b,121<b,121So no one else is coming?

I just missed the cutoff, so I'll probably be out in the field with a pair of binoculars, if I make it out there.

I got dissed on the ticket side too. The wife and I are thinking about rolling down anyway, but I don't know. Sounds like it's going to be pretty off-the-hook, especially for a school night. <b, 21<b, 21All of us Strutters should make and then hold up a huge banner of simply this...<b,121<b,121<b, 21<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/krusty.gif" alt="" /1

Daley Sez: "There's a party in my park and everyone's invited"<b, 21<b, 21<a href="http://chicagoist.com/2008/10/30/daley_tells_everyone_to_come_to_obamapalooza.php" target="_blank"1http://chicagoist.com/2008/10/30/daley_tells_everyone_to_come_to_obamapalooza.php</a1<b, 21<b, 21No Tickets, No Problem.

Toast, Verb, Luck, anybody else interested: wanna hook up somewhere, next Tuesday?<b,121<b,121And while I got you guys' attention...me and John are deejaying at the Hideout (1354 W. Wabansia) on Saturday, Nov. 1, 11:30 PM-3 AM. We can call this the We're A Winner Pre-Inaugural Obama Soul Party...

I am going, too. I actually took next Tuesday-Friday off of work, for celebration and/or mourning.

I'm serious about the Krusty banner. (not really.)<b, 21<b, 21<b, 21<b, 21This whole "tickets be damned" thing has me worried. It's going to be bedlam down there. I'm going to bust out my overseas travel safety wallet and not even try to get into the main section with the security check.<b,121<b,121My question is, who's DJing? I'm not trying to push among the hordes and listen to an echoey-ass victory speech only to not get my groove on. I want to rock to the beat of the rhythm of the night on some Debarge schitt.

No names. They don't even tease us with a come-on like A Well-Known Band To Be Named Later.

I thought I read somewhere that there was going to be no live music. Maybe that just meant "no band." I figured by "no live music" they meant "there might be some music piped in from somewhere, but no actual person doing anything music-related." If there's some DJ at all, I'm cool. It doesn't have be Boolumaster or Pharris or anyone like that.

I'd imagine the black helicopters and tear gas will be showing up...<b,121<b,121find me at home, under my bed.<b,121<b,121CONSPIRACY_THEORIST out<b,121<b,121(30%_joking, terrified)

When Obama spoke in the park in Portland last spring it took more than 4 hours for us to get into the park. We got in just before he spoke and were spared the speeches by local pols and a set by the Decemberists. <b, 21<b, 21Even though it's in a park and free doesn't mean you don't have to pass through security. <b, 21<b, 21Get there early, find some kids and bring them, it will be worth it.<b,121<b,121Hopefully he will be making his acceptance speech about 10pm your time.
