According to the opening ceremonies the history of England is that they stood around and looked at each other for a while and then decided to build factories and then they worked and worked and worked and worked so that they could have the olympics!

Say what you will about the opening ceremonies, and it wasn't really touching China... BUT, China didn't peak with Pink Floyd blaring while the torch was lit. That was fucking killer, and a perfect choice of music to bring the whole thing to a crescendo.
Thought NBC was brutal, by the way, and the fact that the cut out the memorial to terrorist victims for the Michael Phelps-Seacrest interview is awful. Fuck Michael Phelps, go sit on a $5 footlong.

She is Australian hurdler Michelle Jenneke, not an Olympic level competitor yet. World class in other respects.
