What razor do y'alls use (menfolk and womenfolk)?I just ordered from eBay two straight razors (one normal and one with replaceable blades). I'm a do it the old school way sort of fool, plus it sounds like the shave is much better once you stop hacking your face up.Anyway here are the two I ordered:

Currently I use a Schick Quattro:

Anybody actually used a straight razor (aka a throat-cut razor in britain)?

unless you hack your face up bad in which case it's

I'll call you from the ER

I can't hate on this topic. Now that I got me a muhfuggin office job I had to start shaving again on the regular.

I never made the leap to 3 blades. Mach 3 is candy corn: the combination of pivoting head and extra-wide blade makes a precision shave impossible. forget about trying to get right under your nose with those shits.

I stick with the classic Sensor Excel.

The few times I've had a straight razor shave I must say I was impressed with the results, but those were professionals. I am not about to try that at home.

no matter what y'all use, I think we can all agree that blades are facemeltingly expensive right?

ah, and put a shaving cream warmer on your christmas list.

Well, I just used the disposable blade one for the first time. I didn't cut myself but due to lack of instant irritation I was at that shit for like 25 minutes and my face is kind of raw, but no more than my normal schick POS. Nice brit shaving cream and hot water and it's all good. Still too timid to really go for the upward strokes on my upper lip, but it's a lot easier than I thought it was gonna be. Damn. Takes easily three times as long as with a half-assed safety job.

Apparently it's a really bad idea to shave naked with one of these bad boys. I don't want to know I don't want to know I don't want to know.

If anyone tries it my two revelations thus far:

* short staccato strokes at about 20 degrees works best
* keep your face fucking wet, all the time

also I should have taken a shower first to soften my grill up. Way better shave on those areas I could get to well with my noviceness; my sideburns/cheeks (easiest to shave with this bad boy) are on baby butt mode. Rest of face less so, but I'm learning.

possible savings over long run will be enough to buy that

I've been wanting; blades are good for 3-10 shaves and cost about $0.20 apiece. That's five blades for a dollar. That means I get 15 blades for the same price as one of the mach3 or schick jobs, plus I get to feel like a man in the morning now.
