Record Day 2011

Frank,

I would hope you'd be willing to contribute. You have some amazing stuff that I'm sure people would love to hear. I'm not sure any serato djs are chomping at the bit to get rare african music. My desire to have high quality files is for archival purposes. One day, we'll all be happy we saved files at a higher quality. Space and bandwidth will only get cheaper.

The really hot and really rare stuff is all material that at some point might be considered for re-issue and I just wouldn't want to have hi-res files out there before that... I probably would have found a nice record to poast though but as I'm said, I can't do anything from where I'm at right now or for the next month or so. I thought Maru was going to put up a serious piece though...

ENJOY!

Two of my favorite discoveries of 2011. The first is a ridiculous psych/garage monster by (Mikes) Mijal & White. Mike Mijal worked at Pioneer Recording Studios in Detroit as an engineer. He and friend Michael White used spare time in the studio to write and record "I've Been You" and "Reflections", released in January of 1973 on the ZATOP label (Created by Mijal and White), which went to number 3 on the local radio charts. As far as I know this was the only 45 released by the two.

It's got a clearer sound in this Youtube, though:

The other is common as the day is long, but new to me: an early Stones album cut off Between the Buttons. I prefer it to most of their hits, actually.

I only see the second one.

ann alford 'got to get me a job' , willie joe 'funny thing' preacher life is a gamble edited, and the jay berliner track with a break. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14922813/recent rips.zip

seems to strip the code each time, should have the "percent" sign and the word 20 after the word recent and before rips. fuck it I'll give you all this, keep it secret:

Magic Disco Machine-The Gaff slower is better Multi Mix

Only saw the activity in this thread now- it's been stickied for a while now I think.. Perhaps because of this people haven't been posting in it

I don't have an mp3 player/computer connected to my home stereo and also don't have an Internet connection at home so record day isn't really for me I guess.
