Ballin' Jack - Ballin' Jack

  • Ballin' Jack

    Ballin' Jack LP (1970)

    Columbia

Debut album from the Seattle based horn rock band Ballin' Jack that emanates hints of Chicago Transit Authority.  There are two uber memorable cuts on here that live in hip hop infamy.  "Found a Child" is a funk rock celebration that features the break down sampled for Young MC's "Bust a Move."  There's also the sleazy Sly Stone inspired "Never Let 'em Say" driven by a deadly wah guitar and sharp horn lines.  The rest of the album pales in comparison, but those tracks alone warrant a rescue mission from the dollar bin.
