ASR-10 experts.. help!

This is really doing my head in. I'm trying to re-sample through FX just by following the manual but I can't trigger the sample when its in record mode. In normal Edit mode they trigger fine. I've selected REC SRC - Main Out but I think it must be another setting that has been changed somewhere along the way- something to do with the buses or the midi?

I just wanted to add that it's an ASR-10 Rackmount, not the keyboard.
