damn, nice find bro! that place is my first port of call whenever i come down to london, i will be there next week trying to gleam as much as i can. The best album i've picked up at that store is the os brazoes LP, dope day for diggin that was. I wont be going to the record fair- i dont live in london but i go frequently to satisfy the diggin urge that cant be satisfied in the midlands.Yea it came from the music and video exchange in Notting Hill
go to ultima thule in leicester- it's probably one of the best record shops in the country and its the only one i know of that completely specializes in psych and avant european electro ish. they are the guys who did "crack in the cosmic egg" and have been doing some reissues of super rare-krautrock albums and so on. definitely worth the train fare...satisfy the diggin urge that cant be satisfied in the midlands
ha! i grew up in guildford and i love that shop with all my heart! the good stuff is snapped up so quick (because of the nutty cheapness) that it's definately a 'right place, right time' kind of scenario - -- but everytime i go home to visit mum, i always walk away with an armfull of interesting /fun records that cost me about ??2 a pop. and he's the nicest man in the world...Also that place Ben's out in Guildford had ok stuff when I was there.
It''s pretty much off any kind of circuit you could think of, locals only care about shitty clubs and raves, there aren't droves of portable-toting diggeurs scouring the charity shops, and the few stores I know of I regularily find interesting things. Sounds OK in Falmouth is amazing, and is coincidentally where I go to uni, so if you're ever around, pop in!does cornwall have any good diggin spots?
will do cosmophonic!, hey pencilface tell me when you make the journey up to leicester for ultima thule, i'll see if i can hook up with you there.so if you're ever around, pop in!
Was that a joke?!I found record shopping in London to be a lot of walking for little reward, I still had a good time though & lost a bunch of weight. Still, I met cool people & all the people who worked at the stores were real nice (except that strange fellow at Haggle as mentioned). I did get some ok 45s, there was a guy with a table under the bridge on Portobello road who had some ok 45s. But yep for the record London was pretty pricey. Also that place Ben's out in Guildford had ok stuff when I was there.
