Nacho Libre - How was it? How do you rank it???

21 grams
Constatine
Stigmata

probably the worst 3 movies ever made IMO.
You need to see more films then. There's level of suckitude far, far below the line you just drew. Not that any of those three films were somehow "good" (though personally, I found "Constantine" entertaining enough).
I dont think so, I have watched a lot of movies, a lot...a bad movie made by a no name directors, with no name actors, is a far more forgivable sin than a film like "21 grams", which is supposed to be a "good film"(I call it good because it was a critical fave) but lacks essential devices such as character development, creating a sympathy with said characters...there was nothing to care about any of those characters, one could give a shit what happened to them...nothing of interest in the any characters AT ALL. One of many bad things about that "good" movie. So what was the point of the movie? To me that is much worse filmaking than a throw away bad comedy like Cadyshack2 or a Jamie Kennedy movie. Something of that caliber. That is why I put "21 grams" at the top of that list.
As far as Constatine, it was a comic book movie that made the comic (something I have never read) seem like a pretentious hunka crap also. I doubt it is a bad as a comic as the movie made it seem, but that is kinda my point...it was so bad it made its source material unappealing. Kinda like a horable version of a cover song is usually always worse than a bad original song. Its in the delivery. I feel like they are prime examples of bad filmaking IMO. I stand by my choices.

and yo..in the story Nacho's Mother is a Danish Missionary who marries his father, a mexican misionary. It wasn't like they skirted past the issue in the film.
Decent point. Nice save? There are plenty of "white" Mexicans. Hell, there are even Chinese Mexicans. Still not interested.
Then you should steer waaaay clear of Robby Benson's catalogue:

Walk Proud (1979) - plays a LA Latino gangster
The Chosen (1981) - plays a Brooklyn Hasidic Jew

21 grams is dope you retards
21 grams was a total bite off of Amores Perros, a much better film. I still liked 21 though.

On a much broder note, who can afford to go to movies? For 10 clams my optic nerve better be so overexcited that my eyeballs fall out. Netflix or rent is how I roll...I do miss that buttery popcorn though. I heard that some theaters even let you but on your own "butter flavoring".

Napoleon D sucked ass. Only strengthens my resolve not to see it.
and mine not to see Napoleon D - the more fans of that movie i meet, the less i want to see it.
yes, save yourself the unwanted memories, do not see this movie if the fans alone are already annoying you. it's just as bad if not worse than you expect. ok, hatting over.

i still might watch nacho libre on hbo in a year stoned out of my mind and bored on a thursday night. maybe.

you check the behind the scenes feature thing where they break down how they got the dog fights to look so real? shit was crazy.

Man, I don't get all the Napoleon Dynamite hate. I found it charming and funny. I look forward to catching 'Nacho Libre'.

how can you ripoff your own movie? scorsese went from goodfellas to casino, doesnt make casino any less dope :P

but yes amores perros is much better

I noticed in one commercial they have a Ugly Custard tune! is it in the movie?

I for one cannot wait to see it...this might be strange, whenever I hear of someone positively HATING a movie, I have to see it..I mean, if it stirs up such a strong emotion/opinion in someone, then there has to be something to it. But aside from that, I liked Napoleon Dynamite...I loved the way it looked, the way it was shot...I thought it was interesting movie making.

By the way here is a short list of movies I FUCKING HATED... if you are of like curiosity in the strong opinion, gotta see it camp.

Close, but the worst movie ever is MI2

Nacho was tears in my eyes funny. The final smackdown at the end was great. The music was great (Esquievel, Mutantes, Mariachi music). The filmaking was improved over Nap Dyn.. the mormon director dude is really biting Wes Anderson harder in this one which.. works for me.

If you did not find Nap-D funny then I doubt you will find this funny.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

GET THAT CORN OUTTA MY FACE!!

I don't really get the Napoleon Dynamite hate either... I really enjoyed that movie, thought each dialogue was quotable and funny. I also really loved the photography of the movie (which is quite amazing as it's been shot quickly for like nothing and that was one of the first movie of Jon Heder ; I guess he did pretty much everything on his movie).

Well, Alejandro Gonz??lez Inarritu used the same "people crossing people's lives, then meeting up again" in those two movies, that doesn't make 21 Grams and Amores Perros the same movies at all, and such things could then be said to whatever movies that uses the same twist (Short Cuts, Magnolia, Crash, ... ; all excellent movies btw).

And 21 Grams is a brilliant movie, with moving characters (imo). If you're not touched by them, go see King Kong !

really, you thought they were moving? I thought every character was a self centered, piece of shit human being. I could have cared less if they got sawed in half in front of their children. Really. IMO.

i have to agree with this (not the getting sawed part). none of the characters inspired any empathy/interest. i don't have to like the characters, but if i don't feel anything at all for them, then the movie fails for me...it is soul-less(i felt the same about American Beauty and Kids).

i liked watching benicio del toro in 21 grams, but that's more of a personal thing...

Although 21 Grams was not GREAT, I would not put it in the same league as Stigmata - which is probably THE worst American film I have seen in the past 10 years (although I only watched 1/3 of it). Patricia Arquette is a trash actor of the highest caliber - Naomi Watts, look out! And that show MEdium is utter garbage! And speaking of grabage, I watched half of Something's Gotta Give - I only wonder to what depths Jack Nicholson will sink to next...

what is with her voice????????????? stop whining! liven up!

Mad TV did a really good spoof of her show Medium. they had her blah-ness down.

she was actually good in True Romance - that fight scene with her is amazing!

Robby Benson was a fairly popular actor in the late 70's early 80's. And he's a gringo. We watched "Walk Proud" in my Chicano cinema class back in the day and this thread made me remember the discussions we had about a white actor playing a latino character, then going on to play a hasid.

heck Charleton Heston did it in "Touch of Evil" too.

man, its good to know that Robby Benson is a staple of latino film classes. We too watched Walk Proud in class and spoke on his non-latin portrayal.

Anybody see that the vulcan girl from that UPN Star Trek series is going to play a black girl in an upcoming film with LL Cool J as her love interest?

what blows my mind is people who depend on other peoples criticisms...hell even if close close CLOSE friends with pretty much my exact sense of humor tells me a movie is great or terrible, i still go check it out. ive been pleasantly surprised or dissapointed either way...

i loved napoleon dynamite when i saw it..although the way its blown up and the disgusting fans make me almost embarassed to admit that at this point

most of my friends have said nacho libre was terrible, if anything that makes me more excited to see it and judge for myself...if they said it was hilarious, id probably not even care about seeing it (the higher my expectations are the more likely i am to be let down)

This movie is funny and I would recommend people to go see it. I would even see it again, and when I think about parts of the film I get a laugh still.

Took my son to see this last week and I thought it was good (although he got freaked out about something and we left riiiight before the last 30 minutes). It is what it is: a cute, silly comedy that had some laugh out loud moments.

I know race issues are serious and all that, but man, to trip off that shit in this case is a likkle ridiculous.
It's an over the top story of a monk who wants to be a wrestler. It's not Do The Right Thing.

Plus, this dude stole the show so maybe he'll get more shine after being in it.

P.S. the music was good and...
