Open Sky is Dave Liebman's group on PM. Bobby Christian is like a small label Maynard Ferguson; big band with occasional funky moments. Friedrich Gulda is German third stream. "Daydream Door" is Baha'i progressive folk from Montana. Mike Johnson is a one tracker with a fuzz guitar led tune knocking city life.

This is one of the best boogie records I've bought in a while. Was still sealed.

Nice find.Three questions:1. How much did you pay for this 12”?2 Back in the days when this kind of music came out “we all” bought exclusively 12” vinyl on import in Europe. I am not surprised that the 7” versions are rare and super expensive these days, but I always wonder: for which market(s) were 7” boogie records produced and sold? Did they domestically (in the US) sell?3. I’ve had it a few times that I get contacted on Discogs by several people within a short period asking me for the same record in my collection. This can’t be a coincidence. What are the discussion forums or online radio shows etc. where demand for certain boogie records suddenly gets created. A record like this has been known for a long time and compiled repeatedly and still all of a sudden prices go up...

1. $452. Lots of 7" boogie records sold domestically in the US. They weren't really called boogie at the time though. I believe they were all marketed and charted as R&B.3. I can't remember where, but one of the boogie guys or groups on Instagram or Youtube that have a good size following posted a video of this record. I liked it and bought the cleanest copy I could find. Based on previous sale history it looks like some quantity of sealed copies turned up not too long ago and the price settled around the $45 mark. It's worth every penny to me. If it were more rare I think it would go for a lot more.

A few finds digging around Houston last weekend. I've been wanting some Khruangbin and picked up the limited edition pink vinyl version.

Been after that Exorcism record for a min! Can never find it for a decent price.

I was digging through 45s at Cactus Records and one of the guys started playing it on the system in the back area. I grabbed it quick after hearing that first track.

Hells yeah. I wish there was more satanic funk around. Especially around Halloween.
Seems like heavy metal white kids had the market cornered on Satan there for a while.

Your dad owned these? That’s pretty cool. Or was he just holding them for you?

Nah these were mine, I just never got round to taking them with me when I left home... Until now. Whole house is getting emptied, mum is too frail to be there alone anymore.

is "you are what you eat" that movie that had one of the teenage girl singers from The Cake do a gender reversed "I Got You Babe" with Tiny Tim? am I remembering that right or do I sound like a maniac? is that the OST?

Yes! I owned this years ago and bought it again for a couple of bucks. I first heard about it on Blaxploitation.com
Code:
A classic psych soundtrack if ever there was one, YAWYE is a great rocky garage record with plenty of chunky beats to keep dancefloors happy. Mostly rock-based, there are two outstanding funkier tracks, the wicked midtempo instrumental 'Painting for freakout' (by the soundtrack composer, John Simon) with big drums, bass and piano, and the excellent crazy Moog funk-rocker 'Freakout'. Recommended if you like a rocky or psychedelic feel to your funk.
