The Machito is insanely good, only learned about it recently. Some of the best horn arrangements my ears ever heard. The Hecto Mania rules, something I saw on Waxidermy when I was a little 16 year old pisher. Happy to finally own.
unlike reports from the other thraed, i have had no luck in the thrifts lately. been 3-4 trips with nothing of interest. but i did just get a few older pickups from my us mailbox (aka bro visiting home).
this late era tek9 album is incredible. i half suspect it uses material started in the mid-90s because it is on that level and in that vein. the kurious record is another strong late era gift for the old heads. 'a peace of us' is on the holiday record tip - i listened to it a. lot. last winter. and the gene cotton has some 'care of cell 44' ish on it.
A couple of decent 45s and a coverless Fred Wesley that I rescued from a crate of records a friend of mine was gonna toss. Actually traded in the rest of the 45s at the local spot for some credit. I was surprised that they wanted them, as I thought they were all rinked.
I almost forgot about this one. Jacky Scott & Revelation - I Can Lean And Depend On Jesus. I picked up two copies of this Houston, Texas Gospel Funk record at ARC in dollar bins. The stand out track "None But The Righteous" has some awesome synthesizer sounds.
