What Are You Listening to Right Now?

That Don Gio- On the one mix up was getting played on the weekend...great soundtrack for mowing the lawn... I was cutting up them hedges with some swagger!

Also on the 1200s the past few days, its been Lonnie Smith (Think), Camaron (Soy Gitano) and Pookah (s/t) plus a gang of 45s I scored in the mail recently....

Hey,

Me, I'm listening to:

-"Can't Strain My Brain"-Sly & the Family Stone (off "Small Talk").

Wifey is really groovin' off this one, since she wasn't familiar with it. By the way, is it me, or is the "Small Talk" LP slept on?
MASSIVELY slept on. A lot of folks thought he was coasting at the time, so this LP doesn't get the respect it should, but here it is 35 years later and it doesn't sound bad at all.

this album makes me super anxious

I've been trying to get into this album several times. I thought Peter Green fuzzfest noodle jams would be my shit, but the LP just doesn't come together IMO. Got rid of it.

Right now, I'm finally listening to

after having in the listen pile for a couple of years.

, I know.

The only Peddlers LP I've been able to stomach thus far. All original compositions for once, and enough mad drama stabz to make up for Roy Phillips' terrible vocals. Though I will say it's still more sample fodder than an enjoyable end-to-end listen.

My wife hipped me to these cats awhile back and picked this one up today and I'm into it!!!

The Pinkertones:The Million Colour Revolution

Peter Green's work with Fleetwood Mac was tight and concise. The last thing I'd want to hear him do is an album of extended guitar jams. There's only like five songs on this album, right? Five LONG songs, right? Unless I see a copy in a dumpster, that is good enuff reason to stay away from this LP...

So are you not a fan of the live at the Boston Tea Party sets? There are some long players on there.

is this release a nordic-black metal-getting-rid-of-the-guitars-because-they-are-an-african instrument-and-we-are-going-to-now-use-keyboards-exclusively-because-they-fit-in-more-in-a-purely-european-context or is it good black metal?

It's not Burzum, if thats what you're asking. Guitars are forbidden in Norwegian prisons

It's Ulver's first from 94 called "Bergtatt", and it contains no keyboards save a grand piano. It is absolutely marvellous, and I highly recommend it. Its one of the most atmospheric black-metal albums I've heard.
