Anybody else noticing the congruence of many, many of those song titles? I know there were whole decades in pop music where "love" was in half the song titles, but seems the smoothness has people talking love more than usual.

And I don't know the song "herbert" by herbert. Both artist name and the title of the song may be different.

Unfortunately the songs are no longer up... but the record is:

I did mention this in the 4th poast above. Discogs says it's a different record (same artist). Were 'ludes the opiate of choice for Maximum Musical Inspiration in the Marina? (a la Wolf of Wall Street)?

If there was any drug linked to the smooth, it had to be quaaludes.

The drug, synthesized in the 1950s, was originally intended as an anti-malarial treatment, says James Adams, associate professor at the University of Southern California School of Pharmacy. When doctors discovered what a great painkiller and sleep aid it appeared to be, they prescribed it for that instead.Soon, people discovered that it also released sexual inhibitions, particularly in men, and that when mixed with alcohol it produced a mellow euphoria. It also made it difficult if not impossible for an intoxicated woman to resist a man's advances.

inspired by this thread...starting next weekend in Brooklyn, hopefully turning this into a monthly in the summer...the venue is close to the Bedford Ave stop off the L train and has an actual yacht! in the backyard...thanks again RAJ for all this great work! If it wasn't for Soulstrut, this would not happen!

I feel like the term “yacht rock” was actually coined on SoulStrut? It was at least thrown around loooong before it made the general lexicon. Wikipedia is claiming 2005 as the first mention, but I’m sure there are SS posts that predate that. Any way to check?
