 - Trying To Get Next To You

  • Arnold Blair

Trying To Get Next To You 45 (1975)

    Gemigo Records

Monster modern soul tune produced by the legendary Leroy Hutson for Curtis Mayfield’s Curtom associated label Gemigo.  According to Hutson, Blair was the Curtom office cleaner and wanted to get into recording.   Blair spent years back up singing for Hutson and other Curtom artists.  He ended up singing along Hutson on his Feel the Spirit LP.

The "Trying To Get Next To You" 45 is his only release and by the 80s he was out of music and involved in Dallas Real Estate.  Unfortunately, he was murdered in the 1996 at his home and the case went cold.  The song would later become a cult classic for 70s soul DJs.
