Hand picked records important to the history of Soul Strut.
Bobby Bland had a long career churning out soulful blues hits enveloped by his raspy Memphis vox. Like most soul and blues musicians of the 70s, he had his funky period which enjoyed a cult following here at Soul Strut. The 45 that best embodied that era was "I'm So Tired" which finely balanced the minor mood of the blues with the uptempo bounciness of early 70s funk. Bland would eventually enjoy major label success a few years later on ABC/Dunhill and record the hands down classic "Ain't No Love In The Heart Of The City" which would carry on as a prominent hip hop sample and appear in a Chrysler car commercial.
