Hand picked records important to the history of Soul Strut.

 - Polymelomodus

  • Gustav Brom

    Polymelomodus LP (1977)

    Supraphon ‎

The great thing about Eastern European Jazz Funk is that it is always better than its sell by date. I probably wouldn't give a jazz funk record released in 1977 by an American the time of day. But I guess things don't move as fast in Prague as they do in NYC. This record smokes. The whole first side sounds like the best Blaxploitation chase scene music you ever heard. The track on side two, "Bounty" is some heavy-ass jazz funk. There are none of those questionable cheese-fusion chord voicings or wack-ass synth tones on this at all. I just wish Gustav's sides weren't so hard to come by. As a bonus check out the drummer on the cover, you just know that guy is gonna deliver heat.
