[ketan]

the version of Blue at the start of Live in China
i also have that woman losing her mind at 3:29 on repeat!

That is a tight band. I think that's Deon Estus on bass. I got to hang with another of George's bassists a while back and he had some great stories.

Long story short, George was the real deal and one of the nicest people in the business.

[ketan]

oh yeah, i've got the bass turned well up

Someone told me about Midlake and I listened to the song Roscoe twice.

Oh man, these new Stevie songs from the Songs... era are worth checking. It's hard to top Roberta's OG and the Beat Club video is legendary, but as an album version, this take on I Can See the Sun in Late December' crazy good. I'm assuming they had to re-do bits and add things to source material, and it comes off seamlessly to my ears.
