the young holt version is flugel/french/trumpet? horn heatness maximus
I just played the Fatback Band version on the radio last week, it's smoothness defined. Dee Felice version is a beauty, too. Dells for the vocal is aces, although the Johnny Cash version from a couple years back is prolly my favorite of them all.
HELL JEAH
How could I forget that one? But don't let all the dope jazz / funk / soul covers obscure the beauty of the Glen Campbell OG!

OH SHIT! YOU DIDN'T JUST SAY EDDIE RABBIT??? DAYUMMM.DCastle made me a custom Michael Martin Murphey 45 sleeve, but
he left out the "e" in Murphey.
We'll consider this a pressing error, and bids start at 75 dollers
on this one-of-a-kind work of art.
RAJ, I'll see your "Lady" by LRB, raise you a "Lady" by Styx,
a "Lady" by the Commodores and a "Lady" by Kenny Rogers.
On the late, and countrypolitan end of AM Gold to follow lady
we have an Eddie Rabbit THREEFER:
"I Love A Rainy Night"
"Drivin' My Life Away"
"Step By Step"
]
"Tin Man"-America.
The black stations in Chicago actually added "Tin Man" to their playlist - it was a big stepper's cut, you see.OH SCHITT I FORGOT ABOUT THAT ONE!!!!
It's amazing that this was a huge hit record in the year of "Play That Funky Music" and "Disco Duck" - I mean, "Edmund Fitzgerald" just kinda goes on and on, it doesn't even have a recognizable hook line!See mahfahkas who was listening to the radio in the 70s get weepy on some "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald".
BTW,as if anyone really cares........
THEY KILLED OLDIES FM CBS 101.1 in NYC one of the FEW PLACES TO HEAR AM GOLD
Yeah, but payback is a bitch, though...a generic commercial-alternative station just switched to all oldies, and now all these Coldplay fans are bitching and moaning...shit. these fucks just took over our only golden oldies station too. fuck this bullshit.
Not quite - I took care of that in an earlier thread.THIS THREAD HAS A SERIOUS DEARTH OF THREE DOG NIGHT!!!

On the one hand, you're right - 104.3 was the soundtrack of seemingly every old-school diner in Chitown, both retro and OG, and it will be missed. But then again, I kinda prefer WRLL (1690 on the AM), because they dig deeper and they don't neglect the fifties. (For the last few years of its' life, 104.3 focused on the sixties and seventies exclusively.)Yeah, but payback is a bitch, though...a generic commercial-alternative station just switched to all oldies, and now all these Coldplay fans are bitching and moaning...
what station?
I believe it's the station formerly known as "The Zone" - 94.7??
I should mention that this is in Chicago...
It's good to hear that as one dies, a new one is born, but damn. Magic 104.3 was around since I was a small child. I think it even predates my existence.
