i was djing a house party last night and the limited disco selection i had with me was producing a high energy dance response every time i put it down - stuff like b.t. express, jorge ben 'africa brasil,' and the whatnauts 'help is on the way' - so that by the end of the night it made me realize that i wish i had more of a selection to choose from. hence i ask:what's some disco recommendations y'all have to offer? singles or lps. raer or common. to me it's always been a fine line w/ a bunch of this stuff between what is the shit and what is shit. i suppose all genres can tend to be subjective in terms of quality, but disco really strikes me as being a genre built upon personal taste. so, again, what disco are y'all into?

Central Line - walking on sunshine
Silver connection - fly robin fly
both up there with the ones you mentioned

kind of obvious i guess, but:

eddie kendricks-going up in smoke
chicago-street player
jackson 5-blame it on the boogie
george benson-give me the night

688. Borderline - Madonna........Disco?
Sure there are a few things that don't fit and some that should be added, but if you made it down to #688 out of 700 before taking issue with it, I'd say it's a pretty good list of disco classics. It's the most comprehensive list I've ever seen.

T-Connection "do what you want to do"
Cerrone "supernature"
Anita Ward "ring my bell"
etc. etc. etc.

roller boogie
Salsoul Orchestra

nice long breaks/breakdowns

T-Connection
Bounce Rock Skate Roll
I Like What You're Doing To Me
Take Your Time Do It Right
Forget Me Nots
Black Ivory - Mainline

pam todd - lets get together
loose joints - tell you today
ramona brooks - i don't want you back
andrea true connection - more more more
panache - get down
sonny jenkins - that friday pay
big foot - watch your step
kid creole - maladie d'amour
barrabas - woman

and the ever haterade inducing:

human leauge - love action (12" mix)

most of these are on comps. look at u-tern's bodywork mix. that thing is laced up with tons of
sn.gif
joints.

i like my disco in hindi or hindanglish

Yeah, I like it anyway..."supernature" is a great disco tune and there is another tune that is slow and spacey that is cool, but I forget the name...Doesn't beat my doubles of "rocket in the pocket" though!!!

try to differentiate between the 8ball string washed post hustle taint slippers and the speedball pre-house razor re-edits. somewhere between Moroder and Tee Scott. also watch out for dudes who can rap for 25 minutes.
