I see what you are saying, but my view is that while the piece of music either is or isn't essential, regardless of the presence of ten additional schitty tracks, those ten tracks do impact what form it is essential for me to possess the piece of music in.I don't think that the quality of the album from which it's drawn has any bearing at all on the essentialness of any 45; ten other shitty tracks just make the album less essential, it doesn't make the 45 any more so (though it certainly might make it more desirable).
