Horror movie recommendations?

Not horror, but speaking of Indigenous-themed gore, Prey is easily the best Predator movie for my money. I rewatched the OG not so long ago and, man, the first part of that movie drags hard. I've only seen Predator 2 otherwise... any of the others worth watching?

I watched the Sentinel. It was ridiculous nonsense, but the number of famous actors in it is surprising. Despite its flaws I enjoyed it. I couldn’t take it seriously but I enjoyed it.
Also the casting choices for “denizens of hell” was in very poor taste, even for back then.
Oh! Speaking of suspect casting, I finally got around to watching Santa Sangre and the scene where the Mexican pimp gives the Down syndrome guys cocaine and then dances them through the red light district to buy them an obese hooker was the most gonzo shit ever. It’s jaw dropping. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I had to show my wife the scene on YouTube. If you haven’t seen the movie the. Please run out and watch it right away!!!

A friend gifted me a DVD of "Tourist Trap" , starring Chuck Connors, for my birthday. It's low budget and influenced by "Psycho", "House Of Wax" and "Texas Chainsaw Massacre". This is what I was talking about when I mentioned unintentionally funny horror movies. Telekinetic mannequins

Refreshing take on the Zombie Outbreak Apocalypse genre. Good, casual fun, not too gory and more than a few characters inspire some occasional "I hope he/she gets it next" glee. First time the self inflicted limitation gimmick of a one-shot movie inspired awe in me.

^^ I also enjoyed Mads, good addition to an over-saturated genre. The one take shooting added to the tension and anxiety and I liked the new refreshing Zombie 'rules' and lore.

Body horror 'The Substance' gets a recently watched thumbs up from me as well.

FWIW The Changeling fucked me right up as a kid. Excellent classic horror. (1980, George C. Scott).

The 2010 Predators is good. I would avoid any of the Alien vs Predator spins offs. They are terrible. How they could mess up such a great concept is still beyond me.Did anyone catch Longlegs the Nick Cage flick? I really dug it.

Totally agree with Ketan on Prey. I found Longlegs to be stylistically great and entertaining at first but ultimately not very rewarding.

That haunted me for YEARS. I must have been around 10 when I saw it - I will never forget that scene.

Nosferatu is the only movie that I’ve watched twice in the movie theatre. Watched it by myself, then dragged my wife out to watch it.

i don’t know if it is for everyone. Some people might find it boring maybe, but I really enjoyed it. Enough to watch it twice.

I was gonna skip this new one but people seem to be saying it adds something (or does something different). I love both old versions so I guess I should.

I liked the first half of Nosferatu a lot - gripping and the Nosferatu character is really effective. Production values are really high. But I thought it flagged in the second half and went on too long. But the story is what it is and I think I just find that part less interesting generally.

Shadow of the Vampire is the version I watch the most.

Suspiria (1977) was one that I watched recently that I really liked. Visually it is interesting and the soundtrack by Goblin makes it much more intense.

I liked Nosferatu, but I'm a sucker for Egger's films, Lighthouse, Norseman and the Witch. Plus it had Dafoe! although I felt that he was a little underutilized. The Vampire felt too buff for me and I agree it did drag in the 2nd half. But I would watch it again.
It made me rewatch Coppla's Dracula. I never knew Renfield was played by Tom Waits.

I'm starting to think I only really loooove Witch and Lighthouse. But I liked Northman and want to see it again.They're showing Mullholland Drive at the rep this weekend. Gonna be so creepy seeing it on the big screen :slow_burner:

Watched the Philippou Bros follow-up to Talk To Me last night - Bring Her Back. Pretty effective - I recoiled a few times. Wild storyline - not lazy at all. They are 2/2 in my books.
