Hi, I looked at african patterns recently and thought to myself that I want to listen to music that resembles those. So what I am searching for is traditional, vibrant, colourful, fast paced, extremely varied and complex music. Does anybody have reconmendations for what genres I could listen to?

All that Tsonga/Shangaan electro stuff from 10-15 years back could fit the bill. Here's a playlist:

Or you do mean old when you say "traditional"?

Victor Uwaifo fits the bill perfectly, lots of groovy West African guitar madness. More to the point, a lot of his compositions are based on the patterns and colors of traditional Nigerian tapestries. Makes for some excellent tripped-out highlife.

Each side is just a long, meandering jam iirc. Kinda hazy, less vibrant?

^ there's other african stuff at that soundcloud that fits the bill if you like this :bingbangboom:

I appreciate all your suggestions. However, I already know Fela Kuti, Victor Uwaifo etc. It is definitely the right direction, but I still want way more complexity, speed etc.
