recommended android apps?

so i really should buy a galaxy s not an iphone 4? what about resale value, surely the galaxy s will be worthless after a few months.

Well I've been looking into this for some time so as to offset the pain that I experience on a daily basis from plumping for the Nokia 5800 last time round. It was partly the pain of picking up this at the time supposed iphone challenger that had me thinking about just getting an iphone and being done with it this time.





However I can't stand the thought of having to use itunes to upload music and not being able to drag and drop media. Add to that the reported issues with the new iphone, its comparatively extortionate price and that you can stick up to a 32gb MicroSD card in the Samsung to go along with its basic 8gb and I'm sold.

Do you control machines or do machines control you?





Scenario 1: Your email stops working because like humans, computers make mistakes. Do you:





a: expect the phone to fix it itself


b: fix the phone





The galaxy s has better hardware and software so I'm not so sure why you are concerned with resale value. Yeah there are a lot of suckers out there who will buy the iphone from you. You should feel sorry for them, not continue the cycle of profiting off of the uninformed.

I'd better clarify that in now way do I think buying a phone created by Samsung and Google is in anyway sticking it to The Man. But I'm definitely liking the more freedom that an Android phone seems to offer plus, it has to be said, the emulators are calling out to me.

Semi bump. I got 2.2 on my Incredible about a week ago and it is the shit. The 3G wireless tethering is nice. Apps run faster is nice. Fastest browser is nice. Full flash capability is craze. Watching youtubes and vimeos in the browser is next level. The fact that I can download and unzip .zips without a computer continues to be one of my favorite features.





For those having issues with the alarm clock, are you unselecting the clock app in auto task killer? The one I use lets you choose which apps you want killed or left alone.

what music player do people use? i use winamp on my pc. i noticed there's a winamp app for android, but what else do people like?





i avoid apple because of itunes - do i HAVE to use this Kies interface thing to get my music on my phone? any way to configure it as a simple external drive to drag and drop files onto it, etc?

Winamp, and no: whenever i connect my android to a pc i have it set to be auto-detected as an external HD. Just drag and drop music into the dedicated folder... done.

You shouldn't really need a task killer - one selling point of Android is that apps don't use resources when you are away from them unless it's something which needs be on and update in real time like ebay. A battery monitor is pretty useful, though, and Tubemate is great for downloading YT vids. Astro file manager also makes it easier to find stuff on your device. Google Goggles is a must...Google Sky Map is pretty cool, and I use the WiFi Analyser a lot to find the best wi-fi signals and Discogs is pretty cool for Android.





I think the HTCs have the edge over the Samsung models at the moment but it's pretty close.

Some apps that have been changing my g-d life lately:





1) Springpad - Tasks, lists, bookmarks, synchs online into bowsers task bars.


2) Celever contraptions - If you have ever played The Incredible Machine, this game is like that. Physics and bouncing shit, addictive.


3) Yelp - The nearby me feature totally sons google maps.


4) Backcountry Navigator - offline topo maps and tracking. You don't have to pay for maps, app is only $10. Saved my ass a time or two.


5) RD3- Sequencer and drum machine, filters, great to play around with in the middle of nowhere.


6) Minecraft PE - game


7) Flashlight - Super practical, tons of options, front screen ligth/flash light/color options.


8) Silveredit - for web dev nerds.


9)Photoshop express


10) Vignette - Tilt shift is pretty great





Still looking for a quality panorama app.
