Soul Strut 100: # 36 - The Invaders - Spacing Out

There was a discussion about this lp some time ago on waxidermy and the variance of pressings there are out there. I was lucky to find my copy sometime ago and bought it for a really nothing(I want to say a dollar, but it could have been $5.00 or a little more than that, but not too much more (this was at big al's record barn when it was on the el camino and bought it just on the strength of the title).

That day was probably one of my better days at that shop (although at the time, he had a separate 45 shop that his wife used to help with and a big chunk of my bay area records were bought)

absolutely mindblowing record, would be in my personal top 20 if i had to make one.

i did a little research recently. how is it possible that people pay up to 400??? for a repress of this record when it is absolutely easy to figure out what the OG is?! (see the previous Soulstrut threads on this record for example...)

is there something about the seccond press i have missed? or is it just the fact that the first press is even more expensive and not easy to obtain?

the last seccond press sold for arround 360 ??? which is insane in my opinion.

It would be in my top 20 as well. I can't think of any other record that sounds anything like it. The heavyweight bass, delayed horns, pounding drums...ridiculous. I get chills just thinking about the first 5 bass notes from "Spacing Out". Fuck. Maybe this is a top 10 for me.
