lol - i don't want to be too precious about it and i'm not a disco fan, but they kinda transcend the genre, no? as mentioned above, their harmonies are incredible...sets them apart in fact...no? yes!

Born to english parents on the isle of man, but they started their career in Redcliffe, which is truely one of the crappiest suburbs/shires in Queensland. (my home state)
If memory serves, they emigrated from Queensland back to the UK in their teens to jump start their recording career. And for the record, when I refer to the British Invasion, I include groups like the Easybeats and the Rattles, basically the explosion of Beatlesque sounds worldwide.
While I sometimes found their lyrics in the early years to be a little
(trying too hard to be "psychedelic" and sometimes landing in the zone of "wacky"), there's no denying the melodies, the harmonies, and the orchestration.
"Melody Fair" is my jam...as is "Woman in Love" with Babs (no homo).
What's really strange is that many karaoke joints will have a huge Bee Gees section, even shit like "First of May."

Not really. Those were still bad disco-pop records no matter who was doing them, and I'll listen to KC (for real, not joking!) if I want Caucasian disco. "To Love Somebody" is FAR superior to "Night Fever," IMO...
