 - Birthday Blues

  • Bert Jansch

    Birthday Blues LP (1969)

    Transatlantic Records

Sixth album by the influential Scottish folk guitar legend Bert Jansch.  By 1969, along with his group Pentangle, Jansch began to stretch out.  This is album is most notable in crate digging circles for the cut "Poison", a droning drop D bluesy folk rock tune anchored by the heavy drum work of Terry Cox.  It's a song that made many lists on here and was even featured on DCastillo's infamous Zero Time DJ mix.  Also check for "A Woman Like You" which has a similar feel.
