Hand picked records important to the history of Soul Strut.
It's quite safe to say that Carol Kaye is one of the top bass players of our time, having blessed over 10,000 recordings with her funky tight pick attack and groovy low frequency runs. Her work with the notorious Wrecking Crew is forever Memorex'd on albums like the Beach Boys Pet Sounds and a gang of 60's hits that have indelibile punchy bass lines ("Midnight Confessions" anyone?). On Soul Strut, she is the queen of funky bass lines that has seasoned samplers and mix tapes for years. 1995's Picking Up On The E-String is her only official solo release albeit a compilation issued only in Germany. The 10" EP sized platter is home to such funky jazz gems like "Greenapple Quickstep", her brilliant cover of "Burning Spear", "Boogaloo", and so on and ao on. It's funky bass lovers wet dream that needs an official reissue stat.
