Hand picked records important to the history of Soul Strut.
Back to the beats and, yes, I'm throwing in another Friedman into the mix. Some Greek eBayer hipped me to this piece. I then had a Nihon-jin dealer Air Mail me the record in a matter of minutes at a pretty fair price. Veteran jazz pianist Don Friedman did a Japanese-only release on East Wind back in 1975. Rather unremarkable stuff except for the title track. The cut has several movements. One with a Marc Moulin-like Placebo Rhodes groove, another just straight piano, then into a Eastern-tinged funk fusion blow out, and then into a drum solo that proceeds to get OPEN!! True madness and one to sit back and enjoy your favorite narcotic too.
