If a Tree Falls on Soul Strut

RAJ is harvesting our data to market a Nerdotron 3000™ DJ app.

I for one welcome our new overlord etc.

Why should people Soul Strut as opposed to Facebook nowadays?

Also... As of today I am deleting myself slowly out of fb because I took the time to read this:

http://www.salimvirani.com/facebook/

"When the product is free, *you* are the merchandise".

Anyways, the other day I log into fb to check if anything new has shown up after having the apps deleted from my phone and usually there has been nothing, but this time there was. It was Maldives. Which is fucked up because the subject has never come up ever in my convos or anything I've looked up on the net or come across. But a week ago we had friends over who were telling us about their vacation there. Then I realized that my wifes phone was on the table and she has both the fb app & messenger on her phone and I'm pretty sure that because we're tied together on fb as married, it added it to my fb ad preferences.

Wait a sec, what if your dinner guests had mentioned on Facefuck that they were going to visit you/your wife, and knowing that the guests had been to the Maldives....

ehh, I dunno. In the section for "People you might know" it linked me to a man I have ZERO connection with online, and almost zero in the real world. But facefuck knew. However they made the connection must've been very covert.

It suggested my ex as a "Person I Might Know".

We have had no contact for almost 20 years now. We share (as far as I know) no mutual friends.

PUT ME OFF MY STROKE, SO IT DID.

I had opened a FB acct to check DJ sheep's pics from one of his trips....This was back when u needed an invite
I saw shit go south so fast that I never fuck with that big bro matrix clobber

2004, in college, I joined facebook cause you can put in your classes and it'll show you other people who are in them without having to ask for their emails or dorm phones or whatever beforehand, ask for notes from missed classes etc.

2017 I'm reading 3+ degree-separated strangers' endorsements of a shed manufacturing company's corporate page, the ultra dregs of "shit if you overheard in person you would think is the boringest conversation possible" meme-generator posts written by people who make 13k/yr doing 70hrs a week putting impact font banners on upper and lower margins of 16:9 videos and go home wondering why they wanna shoot themselves, bragging life milestones from people I haven't spoken to in years, targeted ads that have evidently analyzed photos I'm tagged in for hair loss, mixed with the occasional thought, personal news or opinion of someone I actually value.

at least this shit, and the systems, nay, entire economies that are built around it, won't last our lifetimes.

Meanwhile, in another tab, I am watching Chrome kill off all my FB content. Every like, comment, share for the last 10 years. FB are notoriously cagey about their API (as it is their entire financial steez) so the process is slow, even when automated. Taking about an hour per year and I'm not a big sharer...

Could you post an idoit'n'foll's step-by-step guide? I want off teh book.

Will PM. Want to make sure it actually does what it says.

It really is insane. And most people don't seem to care. The phone addiction is real, and facilitates all this shit. We have changed the human race, and not for the better. I truly believe we've entered into a symbiotic relationship with these phones: if a Martian biologist (new concept album) showed up and looked around, would he not agree? We provide electricity and info flow in exchange for endorphin boost / hive connectivity / whatever the fuck these things give us. We are never separated. We are one with the machines.
Today is Saturday, the day I turn off my phone. This confuses people, and has cost me some friendships. Think about that!
Be seeing you.

I have a fb book account for web work but it has no "friends".
i have the FB apps on my phone.
When I text someone that is not in my contacts, fb suggests then to me as a friend the next day.

It came in handy when I got ripped off (Craigslist car drama). Dude tried to disappear cause I only had his number and first name.

I I texted him and he fronted like I had the wrong number but the next day Facebook was like: "do you know..." With his name. I clicked the link and not only got his name, employers name, friends etc., but it also gave me access to his wall where he had posted photos of our car that he didn't finish paying for!

Holy shit! Tried to flex on some superscientifical future philosophy singularity 101 and got str9 SORVT! No place I'd rather get reassuringly patted on the head though: soulstrut reveals the little dude-ism in everything we do. I gotta hear it. OR HAVE I ALREADY AND IT'S ALL A GLITCH IN THE MATRIX OMG

srslytho wtf

Hello, Soulstrut.

Might not post much, but I make the rounds.

Orale!

facebook still have manual checks of pictures so i doubt they are listening to your phone yet. on the phone you do give them access to your mail and through that they suggest everyone you have been in contact with since forever. they have definitely not gotten as far as some of you are afraid they have, yet. they check what the friends you recently been talking to are doing and post that shit for you. and you got the red car theory.

They can and do. It depends on your privacy settings.

Read it. http://www.salimvirani.com/facebook/

  • They have and continue to create false endorsements for products from you to your friends - and they never reveal this to you.
  • When you see a like button on the web, Facebook is tracking that you’re reading that page. It scans the keywords on that page and associates them to you. It knows much time you spend on different sites and topics.
  • They read your private messages and the contents of the links you send privately.
  • They’ve introduced features that turn your phone’s mic on – based on their track-record changing privacy settings, audio surveillance is likely to start happening without your knowledge.
  • They can use face recognition to track your location through pictures , even those that aren’t on Facebook. (Pictures taken with mobile phones have time, date and GPS data built into them.)
  • They’ve used snitching campaigns to trick people’s friends into revealing information about them that they chose to keep private.
  • They use the vast amount of data they have on you, from your likes, things you read, things you type but don’t post, to make highly accurate models

about who you are – even if you make it a point of keeping these things

secret. There are statistical techniques, which have been used in

marketing for decades, that find correlating patterns between someone’s

behaviour and their attributes. Even if you never posted anything, they

can easily work out your age, gender, sexual orientation and political

views. When you post, they work out much more. Then they reveal it to

banks, insurance companies, governments, and of course, advertisers.

WhatsApp too (Facebook bought it)

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/jan/13/whatsapp-backdoor-allows-snooping-on-encrypted-messages

I have Telegram but few of my contacts use it.

I got facebook and it's funny to say but I think there's less genuine engagement even on SS's quieter times. I hit waxidermy as well. Facebook seems like a place to floss boring life milestones or promote gigs you want friends to come represent at but not a good place for focused shit talking or legit discussion. Being organized around a common interest helps I think.

I agree. 90% of my strut friends don't post on there any more and for the 10% Herm and Gary make up for it.

I couldn't remember my password and I'm not sure what email address is associated with the account to reset it.
IRONY: I created a new account using FACEBOOK.
Hi!
