This has long been a tune the funk 45 guys will recommend that doesn't break the bank. The intro has a phat break with ole Aaron play by playing a "back scratch" from a female. It's a fun soulful funk tune that will complement any DJ set.
This is the kind of obscure mid-tempo roller funk jam I could only have dreamed of. When I first heard this I knew I had to use it on my Cash Play mix from 2004. There's not much known about Aaron Broomfield, but "I'm Gonna Miss Ya" and his other tune "Polyphase" are a top notch slice of early 80s roller funk pollinated with a vox that melts butter.
Blues rock band with some jazzy stylings from late 60s San Francisco (by way of Milwaukee). It features the great Howard Wales on keys. The whole album is kinda meh except it features an the absolute monster clav/hammond jazz funk track "Camel Back". Get it on 45 if you want to get straight to the chase. If you need some more rediculousness from Howie Wales, check the moog funker "Karnaval" off his 1976 LP Rendezvous With The Sun.
60 minute mix of funky soul and funky jazz from site frequenter and Ugly Duckling DJ, Young Einstein! Oh and this is to commemorate 40 years on planet Earth.
This is a short mix I did in 2002. It was on the site way back when, but got lost in the shuffle. It’s a hodge-podge of joints i was feeling at the time all with that rare groove / crate digger aesthetic.
Another lost mix that sees the light of day again! White Lily was a regular on the Soul Stut message board and was nice enough to bless us with this mix of 60s / 70s dreamy psychedelic rock. The track list has been a bit of a mystery too and subjected to decoding.
Vitamin D is a Seattle legend when it comes to crossing turntablism and crate digging. This mix holds up as one of the best modern soul / boogie mixes we’ve ever heard.

This is a mix that created quite the buzz on Soul Strut in the mid-00s. A couple well known uncredited diggers in the Bay area joined forces to mysteriously expose rare funky psych rock that has stumped even your most seasoned collector. Track list, plaese?
This is the long lost Volume 1 to the cult classic Trap Door series. And as far as I know, it was only available on cassette and there is no further information online. This is 60 minutes of Psych, Prog, Avant-Garde, Free Jazz, Private Press and Just Plain weird all along appealing to beatheads! Full story can be found here. Enjoy!
Tony Janda had an insatiable appetitive for rare Chicago soul and funk 45s. Before his passing in 2012, he blessed Soul Strut with a series of killer mixes. This is by far his most popular and hard hitting.

Thes One has a part of Soul Strut since spikey haired Boy Bands owned Disney World. He has records, he has production skills, and (gulp!) an MPC. This is a mix of gorgeous beats and cerebral megalomania bound to make your time behind a computer THAT much better.
Mustache Soul delves deep into the bizarre world of outsider drum machine soul from the late 70′s and early 1980′s. A mix by Thes One, all songs were taken from original vinyl pressings and the mix is an even hour of full curl power. And no, he can’t tell you what track number x is. The secret of the mustache is remaining tight lipped.

This continues to be one of my favorite mixes ever submitted to the site. My ADD A.S.S. tends to favor half hour mixes like this packed to the gills with ill grooves and breaks jacked from random old rock records. It’s just enough to take up Side A of a cassette. Nonetheless… this made it past the Soundcloud censor illuminati too! Njoy!
T-Woc provides us with a Valentines day mix for all the lost souls.
