Aquarian Dream – You’re A Star

  • Aquarian Dream

    You're A Star 12" (1978)

    Elektra

A disco funk/soul classic that was mentioned in pretty much every "recommend me some disco" thread.  Rightfully so, "You're a Star" mixes the crystal funk guitar of Chic with warm synth grooves a la Roy Ayers and pumps it up into dance floor cocaine territory.  Elektra never released this as a 12" in the US just as 45.  It did enjoy significant success in the UK were it was released as a 12".  It features the voice of Sylvia Striplin who later left the band for Roy Ayers' Uno Melodic label where she released the classic "You Can't Turn Me Away” among others.  There’s also a KILLER sax solo by my boy Gary Bartz.  I can't comment who made the orgasm noises.
