Hand picked records important to the history of Soul Strut.
A disco funk/soul classic that was mentioned in pretty much every "recommend me some disco" thread. Rightfully so, "You're a Star" mixes the crystal funk guitar of Chic with warm synth grooves a la Roy Ayers and pumps it up into dance floor cocaine territory. Elektra never released this as a 12" in the US just as 45. It did enjoy significant success in the UK were it was released as a 12". It features the voice of Sylvia Striplin who later left the band for Roy Ayers' Uno Melodic label where she released the classic "Give Me Your Love” among others. There’s also a KILLER sax solo by my boy Gary Bartz. I can't comment who made the orgasm noises.
