Bama - The Village Poet - Ghettos Of The Mind

  • Bama - The Village Poet

Ghettos Of The Mind LP (1972)

    Chess

Afrocentric spoken word LP from George McCord AKA "Bama - The Village Poet " on the Chess label.  McCord's drunken delivery makes this album both comedic and genius at the same time.  The album is most notable for having a treasure trove of poetry bits like on the title cut for Pete Rock's "Ghettos of the Mind" and the track "I Got Soul". More intriguing is the funky jazz soundtrack providing the poetry platform with Bernie Purdie on drums, Richard Tee on keys, and Cornell Dupree on the guitar.
