Bobby Boyd Congress - Bobby Boyd Congress

    Bobby Boyd Congress LP (1971)

    Okapi Records

French soul / funk album with jazz rock tendencies (a la Chicago) recorded by American expats that would eventually form Ice and Lafayette Afro Rock Band.  There are some snoozy ballads on here, but the uptempo funk cuts like "Straight Ahead" (also available on 45) and "Train" make up for it, ranking this effort high in the Euro groove ranks.  Its limited pressing of 300 copies have made this a $1000+ mythical raer for over a decade.
