BEST RECORDS U ACQUIRED IN 2007

Can somebody define "found"? Isn't there a huge difference between "finding" a $200 copy of Stark Reality vs. "finding" a copy of Stark Reality at a thrift shot?
Along the same lines is buying on eBay "finding" records? I don't think so really. Unless maybe the listing was misspelled and you "found" it by searching using misspelled names.

Family and the increasing demands of my day job, kept a strutter from digging in 2007.

BUT, I did pass by my local flea over the summer and found this cool record called Stark Reality for 2 bucks.

I hear you big time!

I would say my best finds came while on vacation, really the only time I had to dig:

George Guzman "En Linea"
Eddie Hernandez "All We Need is Love"
Kent Gomez, Ricardo Ray, and Willie Rodriguez "Duelo Musical"
Ricardo Ray and Bobby Cruz "Los Differentes"
Joanne Garrett "Just a Taste"
William Bell "Soul of a Bell" (thanks again R*b!)

I would say that's the best of the best, wish I would've found more rock or soul records (actually money to pay for them because they were avaiable).
Damn I need to get out more in '08!

Some of the better ones sitting by my decks from the last year:

DiMelo - S/T
Wilson das Neves - Samba Tropi
Dave Pike Set - Infra Red
Phil Cohran - The Malcolm X Tribute
Nathan Davis - If and Matatuka
Gerry Weil - Quinteto de Jazz
Ike and Tina Turner - Get It
Hank Ballard - You Can't Keep a Good Man Down
Osanna - L'Uomo
Randy Holland - Cat Mind
OST - Toomorrow
OST - Banana Splits
Jacob's Reunion - S/T
V/A - Reggae in the Grass

Because of numerous good finds this year, I limited to "less than 3 euros" finds!

Here's the TOP9 of the category:

Nice stuff! I found that Ronald Mesquita at a thrift as well for 1 euro. Also picked up that Perez Prado double set at a Paris fleamarket for 2 euros. Great record as it includes his rare Love Child album.
How much was that Platano record?

street people (self titled)
natural four (self titled)
labelle (self titled)
betty everett - there'll come a time
jon lucien - rashida
love unlimited - in heat
ltd - love to the world
verdelle smith - alone in my room

....

Mohawks - The Champ
Blacula OST
Harold Vick - Don't look back
Doug Carn - Higher Ground
Avan Samba - s.t
Marcos Valle - Garra
Ronald Mesquita
El Chicles - Viva tirado

Just a couple of titles that spring to mind...seems there are several people who dug up a Mohawks last year.

I've listened to these the most.

Rotary Connection - Hey Love
Byron Black and Living Objects - The Unexpected
Toppiks - Give It A Chance To Grow / Surrender
Jorge Ben - A Tabua De Esmerelda / Africa Brasil
July - S/T
Assorted Nina Simone thanks to Good Records
and lastly Annette Peacock - I'm The One

Honorable mentions to two John Benders

RBL Posse - Bammer Weed 12" (finally was able to replace a long-lost copy)
HAWK - Already Know 12" (so entirely Frickin' classic)

Got tons of other good stuff, but those are the 2 that warm my heart the most by far.

in retrospect, 07 was a really good year for records. lots of heat and otherwise solid selections. filled a lot of gaps, got some stuff I'd been wanting for a long time.

probably my best find in terms of [money paid:money 'worth'] ratio was that 'This is Ssslick' LP. some killer sounds on there too.

other than that, I found another BUNCH of serious local heat which means a lot to me even if not to collectro-land in general. For example, Ozanam Strings, and the first LPs by Al Dowe, Bobby Fulton, and James Johnson.
Also some seriously hot local 45s came my way- Headliners 'Little Sister,' JBC band on Jeree, and some seemingly 'unknown' stuff.

oh and this is not including records acquired online- i got lots of really nice stuff from usual sources plus message board homies. thanks and upward in 08!
