I realized after seeing that record that there was probably not a deep appreciation for afro americain music in Spain...

tbone:

That may explain why the field is so dried out here :-)

Yesterday I found:

Mr. loco - Lola 7"
Rotation - Ra Ta Ta 7"
Manolo Gas - Spain / Luna India 7"
Los Super Ye-Ye (Los Brincos) - Borracho / Llorar / Flamenco / Baila La Pulga 7"
Granada - Hablo De Una Tierra 7"
Dejame Sonar - Solo Una Yez / Un Mundo Sin Amor 7"
Los Pekenikes - Tabasco / Trio 7"

Also Red Bullet by Performance.

I had 100 more Pekenikes and Pedro Ruy Blas titles going through my hands, all shit and boring, the musica dispersa and the others you guys here mentioned, are all still missing out...

Pretty dry here, as I said!

Nevertheless big thanks going out to the strutting comunity for all the help and good tips and clues...

Best from Barcelona,

Scoper

Ian Wright here on Tuesday, gonna be nice... :-)

I'm a little late. You sound serious spending all that time in dusty record stores while in Barcelona, where there is so much more to do and see. I ruined my wife's amd mother's vacation by wasting one afternoon and one morning in record shopping and an other morning trying to mail my booty back home.

Best stuff was at the flea markets.

There are 3 or 4 stores on that street near the Ramblas, but the best records were in a store selling used porn videos.

The Catalonia rock I got was not that hot.

The flamenco rock fusion stuff was where it's at. I love that stuff, the only prog rock I like. Sadly every flea market and store knows the value and I didn't have any markup. Of course Barcelona is the wrong part of the country to really find this stuff.

Mostly I bought 45s of American soul and French pop. I love those Spanish picture sleeves.

Disco Edison's has boxes of spainish beat eps and a listening station, no? Have at it man! My best pull from there was Los Pasos "Habibi"

heavy stuff

I went through entire Wah Wah (the shrikwrapped owner refused to give me a 60 Cent discount to make it flat 50 bucks - sez it all, right?!) and Disco Edisons (Yeah, thats where used Porn meets record on the shelves!!) shop. ca. 20.000 records were flipped :-)

Outcome was pretty poor, like I posted yesterday night.

Just to make sure you know - I don't spend all day in shops - that's due to the siesta they have here around midday, were all shops are closed and we hang in nice cafes and take time to sight see a little and walk around in the harbour quater and so on...

I also went to all known flee markets here (about 4) and the outcome was as poor as in the shops. Nothing really big to score there, but I must admit that we were pretty late last sunday due to heavy drinking the night before :-)

Yesterday night DJ Hype and Jim Dunloop arrived here and we took a little break in a old & dirty fishermans restaurant.

Tomorrow we gonna spin at the fair here the whole day long and the day after we gonna leave this city.

Thanks for all your info guys, very helpful. I appreciate all your comments!!!!

This is Jayme Marquez? I got a brazilian boogie 12 by him on Marflor. At least I thought it was Braz until Danno told me he's actually from Spain and was just pretending... for the chicks or something.

I think the guy behind this one is called Juan Marquez as far as I recall. Don't know if it's the same guy, but I do know it's a pretty badass record. Wouldn't mind having that one in my possession.

Any advice on places to try and get gigs? I'm out there in a month and would love to play out.

That Marquez is good. Color de Caramello is my shit!
