Hand picked records important to the history of Soul Strut.
Black Sheep burst on to the hip hop scene in 1991, sworn in members of the Native Tongue collective with the likes of A Tribe Called Quest, Jungle Brothers, and De La Soul. They did not disappoint, adhering to tongue standards delivering intelligent, some-what comedic, satirical lyrics over crispy crate dug samples. The group enjoyed a modicum of success with their debut A Wolf In Sheep's Clothing relinquishing old school classics like "The Choice Is Yours", "Strobelite Honey", and "Similak Child". Their 1994 follow up Non-Fiction introduced a darker, harder edged sound that didn't fair as well with critics, but is considered by hip hop diehards to be a slept on classic.
