 - Funky Super Fly

  • Bobby Williams

    Funky Super Fly LP (1974)

    R&R Records

Soul singer Bobby Williams definitely holds the crown for most convincing James Brown impersonator. Williams had been manufacturing run-of-the-mill R&B for well over a decade before he reinvented himself in 1973 mimicking the Godfather of Soul's signature sound. This LP is jam packed with raw funk and soul that is very convincing, later championed by the 90s neo funk scene.  There's a much rarer and coveted fan club only release of this album that has changed hands for mega bucks.  Good Gawd!
